RED STAG - NEW ZEALAND
If hunting for an exceptional Red Stag trophy, all too often a hunters’ only consideration when booking a hunt is what will the stag score.
If you’re paying top price for Red Stag trophies you need a guide who is able to judge length, mass, spread and score to make sure you end up with a very high scoring trophy that looks good on the wall and does not shrink when you walk up to your trophy after the hunt.
This outfit have been hunting Stag for 20 years, their clients have taken over 500 Gold Medal Stags and their reference list is extensive. They have the experience, the guides, the area and the trophies to ensure your Red Stag hunt is world class.
Accommodation
The Lodge offers visitors the highest quality conditions in relaxed peaceful surroundings. Outstanding views over the New Zealand bush with the real privacy that only isolation can bring. While you rest between hunts you can enjoy the finest of New Zealand’s wine and food.
Best time to hunt
The best time to hunt Red Stag is during the rut between March and May. The best time to hunt alpine trophies is May till July, when they are in rut and prime winter coat.
Best trophies
New Zealand has the best Red Stag and Tahr hunting in the world. Chamois hunting is excellent but fallow deer are not as good as Spain or Texas. Sika deer are excellent. Wapiti are very good but can lack beam length and can be expensive compared to North American Elk.
When hunting Red Stag, it will be the responsibility of the guide to judge the stags score correctly and if a stag taken scores higher than estimated by the guide the client will not be required to pay additional trophy fees.
All prices include the New Zealand government 12.5% Goods and Services Tax.
