Atlantic Walrus

Sports Hunting Walrus in the Canadian Arctic

Our outfitter has conducted numerous walrus hunts in the past few years and has had 100% hunter success.

The hunting will be done out of motorized boats such as Lake Winnipeg or Boston Whaler about 21 to 30 feet long. The boats are used by local Inuit for hunting and fishing.
The Walrus will be stalked while they are on ice flows and small rocky islands. A close stalk is usually possible. The guide carries a harpoon incase the walrus is wounded.
The guides know the local haul outs of the walrus. Up to now the longest hunt has been 3 days and that was because of one day that was lost to extreme winds. A hunt is concluded when a walrus is shot or in 6 days, whichever comes first.

There are several outfitters that conduct walrus hunts but it is important to work with an outfitter that has a very good knowledge of hunting walrus and good equipment. Walrus hunting can be very dangerous so this is one hunt that a hunter must make sure he is with the right outfitter..
